Elkhart Lake Police Department

Elkhart Lake Police Department The Elkhart Lake Police Department is located in Elkhart Lake, WI.

The Elkhart Lake Police Department has been and will continue to function as a community policing agency. Community policing is a philosophy that promotes organizational strategies, which support the systematic use of partnerships and problem-solving techniques, to proactively address the immediate conditions that give rise to public safety issues such as crime, social disorder, and fear of crime. We encourage the community to become involved in problem solving in their own neighborhoods so that together we can be proactive in preventing crime and social problems in our great Village.

PRESS RELEASE

July 30, 2026

On Thursday July 30, 2026 at 4:21 pm the Elkhart Lake Police Department along with Elkhart Lake Fire and EMS, Glenbeulah Fire and EMS and Orange Cross Ambulance were dispatched to an address on Little Elkhart Lake Road in the Town of Rhine for an ATV crash involving a 13 year old girl.

The first arriving Elkhart Lake police officer requested the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office and Flight for Life Thedastar helicopter based on the injuries. The 13 year old female was flown from the scene to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee for treatment.

The initial investigation shows that the ATV rolled over throwing the girl from it, potentially rolling over her. No helmet was worn during the crash and speed does not appear to be a factor.
