Although we hope never to put this training to real use, we recently had the opportunity to practice bus extrication. Thank you to Collins Brothers Towing Inc “The Original” for allowing us to use their bus, train at their facility and for the wonderful dinner they provided for our team.

Today at 16:57 Elk River Fire was dispatched for a possible fire on the deck of a home in Big Lake Township. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire on the front of a home and began efforts to extinguish the fire.

The home was vacant at the time of the fire, no injuries were reported. Thank you to Big Lake Fire for assisting on this incident!

A backyard fire is great for relaxing. A backyard grass fire? Not so much. 🔥🚒

With current dry conditions, use extra caution with bonfires and fire pits.

A few quick reminders:
✔️ Check wind conditions first
✔️ Never use gasoline or other accelerants
✔️ Keep water or an extinguisher nearby
✔️ Never leave the fire unattended
✔️ Fully extinguish the fire before leaving

And remember: “It’ll probably be fine” is not a fire safety strategy!

We know you're excited for fishing opener this weekend. Check your fishing lines, grab your bait, and before you launch the boat, make sure everyone has and wears a life jacket.

A properly fitted life jacket keeps everyone safe on the water. Good luck out there, have fun, and enjoy the weekend safely!

A different kind of rescue for Assistant Chief Joe Libor Jr. today! 8 baby ducklings 🐥 found stuck in a storm drain near a loading dock. With patience and care, all 8 were safely rescued and reunited with their mother nearby. 🦆 Just another reminder that helping the community comes in many forms.
