DROUGHT WARNING: Due to prolonged dry weather, areas across the state, including ERMU’s service territory have moved into the Drought Warning Response. Our area faces what is known as a "Storage Drought" which occurs after consecutive years of drought and/or dry periods and results from a critical depletion of lake levels, soil moisture, and groundwater levels. Areas in storage drought are extremely sensitive to worsening drought conditions and increased risk of wildfires.
The DNR is asking water systems and users across the state to reduce demand. For water conservation tips, visit: https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/waters/watermgmt_section/appropriations/water-conservation-
ERMU customers are also reminded that the City of Elk River Code of Ordinances establishes two use restrictions for residents on the city’s water system to ensure adequate water supplies to meet the needs of our community.
🚫No lawn watering is allowed between the hours of 10am and 6pm. This is the hottest part of the day and most water is lost to evaporation.
