COMMUNITY UPDATE

Elk Ridge Fire Department is currently assisting with a fire near P Mountain in Payson.

Our crews are staged in the area and assisting as needed. At this time, Elk Ridge Fire Department is not actively fighting the fire.

We know seeing fire apparatus in the area can be concerning, so we wanted to keep our residents informed. ❤️

Please avoid the area if possible and allow emergency crews room to operate.

We’ll share additional information as it becomes available.

Fireworks Restricted in Elk Ridge City

Due to extremely dry conditions and increased fire danger, all fireworks are prohibited within Elk Ridge City for both the July 4th and July 24th holidays.

Recent fires in our area have demonstrated how quickly a spark can turn into a fast-moving wildfire. Our priority is protecting our residents, homes, open spaces, and first responders. By restricting fireworks during these high-risk conditions, we can help prevent unnecessary fires and keep our community safe.

If you plan to celebrate in neighboring communities, please be aware that other cities may also have restrictions in place. Payson, Salem, and Woodland Hills have restricted fireworks in all or portions of their cities. Be sure to check and follow local regulations before using fireworks outside of Elk Ridge.

We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to fire safety. Let's work together to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday season.

When in doubt, leave fireworks out.

A reminder of Elk Ridge Spring Chipper Day! May 18-21, 2026.

Residents can place tree limbs, branches, and other approved vegetation at the roadside for city chipper crews.

Yesterday, the dedicated crew of the Elk Ridge Fire Department responded to an unusual call -- a cat named Sebastian had become trapped in a storm drain.

After carefully locating Sebastian and working together to safely access the drain, firefighters were able to bring him out unharmed. An animal control deputy was able to locate and and reunite Sebastian with his family.

We are always happy to help every member of our community -- even the four-legged ones! A big thank you to the neighbors who reported the situation and helped crews quickly locate Sebastian.

🔥 Training day in action! 🔥

The Elk Ridge Fire Department and Woodland Hills Fire Department conducted a fire attack training yesterday with interior drills, room and contents fires, and a garage fire. The training ended with a total involved structure and defensive OPS.

These trainings give our firefighters the chance to experience real fire conditions in a controlled environment. Helping us sharpen our skills, improve teamwork, and stay ready for when it matters most.

What a great training day! 🔥
