The Trump War with Iran drags on. To date, 18 U.S. serviceperson were killed in the conflict and 756 were wounded, according to the Pentagon’s casualty reporting system. We spent $37.5 billion on the war so far and that does not include higher energy costs and the higher cost of everything that has resulted. Such major damage to U.S. bases in the region has occurred than the U.S. is planning to close or scale back those facilities after the war.

For what? A possible deal that won’t be as good as the one that was in place and negotiated by President Obama. Iran seems in no hurry to settle.

Make no mistake about it. We are losing this war.

Are you happy with the One Big Beautiful Bill? We hope so because it will add $3.7 Trillion to the national debt in the next 19 years. The National Debt hit $40 Trillion this week. While it is normal to deficit spend when the economy is sluggish or during a war, Trump did this while the economy is doing ok and before the war with Iran.

Trump promised he would run the country like a business. He views every international issue in terms of how he can profit from it (as a country and personally). Longterm relationships with countries that fight alongside us are clobbered with tariffs if they don’t give Trump what he wants. And just like his casinos, Trump is leading us to so much debt, one wonders how long we can survive. With a do nothing Republican Congress, cleaning up the painful mess will be left to the Dems.

The Trump administration has ordered Consumers Energy’s 64-year-old J.H. Campbell coal plant in Ottawa County to remain open through Nov. 14, extending its operation for a sixth time despite plans to retire it in 2025. Michigan officials and environmental groups have challenged the federal orders, as keeping the plant running has already cost nearly $260 million, with the expenses potentially passed on to ratepayers.
