Watch the Elk Grove Library transform ✨

Last week, artist turned the current library building into a colorful canvas. Designed to complement the building’s expansive windows, the artwork uses bold color, pattern and flowing forms to create a sense of movement throughout the space.

This timelapse captures part of the installation process and offers a unique look behind the scenes! 🎨

Ready to pedal, partner? Bring on the bike rodeo!

The City has saddled up with the Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates (SABA) and the California Office of Traffic Safety to rustle up two bike rodeos in June to teach important skills to help new riders bike safely and confidently. Led by a certified League Cycling Instructor (LCI), students will practice on a variety of agility courses.

Note: These events are best suited for kids ages 5-12 years old. Admission is free, but registration is required at the link in the comments below.

We’re serious. Please don’t blow your summer budget.

Elk Grove has zero tolerance when it comes to illegal fireworks. They’re dangerous. They’re illegal. And they come with a $1,000 fine…per firework. 🧨

This 4th of July season, our Code Enforcement team is teaming up with Elk Grove Police Department and Cosumnes Fire to respond to illegal fireworks activity and help keep our community safe.

If thinking of the fines has you changing your mind, bring your fireworks in for safe disposal. Cosumnes Fire Department, Elk Grove Code Enforcement, and Elk Grove Police Department have teamed up to host a Fireworks Drop-off Event on Saturday, June 20 from 10 AM to 3 PM at City Hall (8400 Laguna Palms Way). No fines, no trouble. No questions.

Seeing illegal fireworks across town? Report them through EGPD's non-emergency number at (916) 714-5115.

Ever wonder where your tax dollars go? We're talking public safety, roads, and the behind-the-scenes work that keeps Elk Grove running strong.

The proposed FY 26–27 budget heads to City Council on June 10, and your input matters. Budget decisions reflect the City's values and priorities, so if you’d like to share your thoughts or provide feedback on funding plans for the coming year, participate in public comment during the Council meeting at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 8400 Laguna Palms Way.

As temperatures rise, the City is developing a Heat Ready Mobility Plan to keep people moving safely and comfortably, even on the hottest days. 🌞

We've crafted a quick survey to hear about where heat makes it the hardest to get around. Think of bus stops without shade, a long stretch of sidewalk directly in the sun or a route that feels unsafe during extreme temperatures.

Visit the comments below to take the survey and help shape solutions that make a real difference in our daily travels especially when the heat is on. 😎

POV: You're a shelter dog spending your day surrounded by giant flowers and public art.

Bonita got a first look at one of this year's Paint the Grove murals and gave it her seal of approval (and several sniffs).

Want to see it too? Join us Saturday at 9 a.m. at Old Town Plaza for the Paint the Grove Walking Tour, then head over to the Elk Grove Animal Shelter's Adopt a Pet Day event from 12 to 5:30 p.m. to say hello to Bonita and her furry friends.

And if Bonita inspires you, consider taking a shelter dog on an adventure through our Doggy Day Out program. Because every great art tour deserves a best friend. ❤️🐶🎨

Paint the Grove is officially underway and the transformation is already something special.

We have loved seeing the art come to life and watching residents interact with each piece in their own way. People are stopping, reflecting, taking photos, and sharing their reactions. The creativity on display from these artists is truly beyond words and we are grateful to be able to experience it here in our community.

We cannot wait for what is still to come and we hope you will join us at the Old Town Plaza this Saturday at 9:00 AM for the guided walking tour.

Photos by local photographer . Thank you for capturing the energy and progress so beautifully.
