Every fire attack starts with the hose line.

Hose management is where coordination, communication, and teamwork come together. Academy recruits are training to select the right hose line, advance it safely and efficiently, and get water where it needs to go when seconds count.

Move together. Flow water. Get it done.

On 5-25-26 Cosumnes Fire crews responded to a 2-alarm residential fire involving two homes in Elk Grove with assistance from Sacramento Fire. Firefighters worked quickly to bring both homes under control and prevent further extension. All occupants safely evacuated prior to crews arriving on scene. We appreciate the coordinated efforts of all responding personnel.

Today, we’re grateful for the many organizations, volunteers, personnel, and community members who took the time to participate in the Memorial Day ceremonies throughout Elk Grove and Galt.

We also want to recognize Gold Star Mothers. This title is given to mothers who have lost a son or daughter in military service to the United States. The term dates back to World War I, when families displayed service flags with a blue star for active service members. If that loved one was lost in the line of duty, the blue star was replaced with a gold one—symbolizing sacrifice, honor, and a loss carried for a lifetime.

Today we honor Betty Hall, a Gold Star Mother, for her son, U.S. Army SFC Bryan Hall, of Elk Grove, who gave his life during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2009. His service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

All of our Gold Star Mothers embody the true meaning of Memorial Day. Their strength, sacrifice, and enduring love remind us that freedom comes at a profound cost.

Thank you to everyone who helped ensure we never forget. 🇺🇸
