We are out of inside booth spaces 🥳 we still have plenty of outdoor spaces if you would like to get a outside spot saved let me know by October 21st to be able to get on the advertising that will be done.
If you got an inside booth and have not gave me a email yet to send the application to please do so asap, I will have all applications sent out by Friday evening. Please have 2-3 photos and a small description of what you will be bringing sent to me to be able to put on flyers by October 21st.

🚨 ELK & CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY — WE NEED YOUR INPUT! 🚨

There is an opportunity to bring federal grant funding into our communities to make our streets, roads and transportation areas safer for everyone. 🇺🇸

The Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program is designed to help communities identify dangerous areas and make safety improvements that can help prevent serious crashes, injuries and deaths. And yes — small towns and rural communities can qualify. Cities, towns and counties are eligible applicants.

But before decisions can be made about what our communities need, WE NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU.

What could this mean for our communities?

Think about the things you’ve noticed driving or walking around Elk and Chautauqua County:

🚶‍♀️ Safer or improved sidewalks and ADA accessibility
🛑 Better stop signs, warning signs and pavement markings
💡 Improved street/roadway lighting in areas where safety is a concern
🚸 Safer school crossings and pedestrian crossings
🚗 Traffic-calming improvements in areas where vehicles travel too fast
🌉 Safety improvements around bridges, intersections and other problem areas
🚲 Safer routes for people walking and biking
⚠️ Improvements to locations where we’ve experienced near-misses or crashes
🚑 Improvements that can help emergency responders and make dangerous areas safer

The goal isn’t simply to fix roads because they’re old — the funding has to be connected to roadway safety. But that can include a LOT more than just pavement.

🏡 Why does this matter for a small town?

Sometimes we think, “We’re too small to get grants like this.”

We’re not.

Small towns and rural communities have transportation safety needs too, and SS4A specifically allows eligible local governments such as towns and counties to apply.

This is our chance to speak up about the areas we know need attention.

If you’ve ever thought:

“Someone needs to fix this sidewalk.”
“That intersection is dangerous.”
“People drive way too fast through here.”
“That bridge needs better safety measures.”
“Our kids need a safer place to cross.”
“It’s hard for someone with a wheelchair or stroller to get around town.”

THIS is the time to say something.

The more community input we have, the better we can identify the safety needs of Elk, Chautauqua and the surrounding communities.

It only takes a few minutes, but your input could help shape improvements in our community for years to come. ❤️

Local History Mystery 🕵️‍♀️… maybe?
Found buried at some land in Elk Falls ….
We did a little searching and found that Wear-U-Well Shoes was a shoe brand sold by local merchants back in the 1920s–1930s. These signs were sometimes displayed outside general stores and other small-town businesses that carried the shoes.
Now we’re wondering… was there a store in Elk County that used to sell Wear-U-Well shoes? 👀
Does anyone remember hearing about an old shoe store, general store, mercantile, or other business in around Elk County that may have carried Wear-U-Well?
Maybe someone has an old photo, newspaper clipping, family story, or remembers a business that we haven’t been able to find yet.
It would be so neat to uncover the story behind this old sign and possibly figure out what store it originally hung on!
