We are grateful to receive a $37,395.00 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to support our emergency response efforts. This funding will be used to purchase eight sets of turnout gear, helping ensure our department is better equipped to serve the Elizabethville area community. Thank you to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, our local Firehouse Subs restaurant in Carlisle and the generous donors who made this possible!

Reliance Hose Co. No. 1 officially took delivery of a 2021 Pierce Heavy-Duty (HD) Rescue Pumper Thursday, July 16. This newly acquired apparatus replaces a 2011 KME pumper, modernizing the department's fleet while saving the department approximately $1,000,000 compared to the cost of purchasing a brand-new vehicle.Recent shifts in local community demographics and infrastructure meant the configuration of the older 2011 KME no longer met the department’s evolving operational needs. Facing industry-wide supply chain challenges—where new fire apparatus delivery times now stretch up to four years with price tags hovering around $1.5 million—Reliance Hose Co. No. 1 proactively sought a smarter, faster alternative.

By leveraging the strong resale value of the 2011 KME on the used market, the department brokered a trade-in deal through Command Fire Apparatus. This strategic acquisition allowed the department to secure a modern, low-mileage vehicle immediately, bypassing long factory wait times and significantly reducing capital expenditures.

Purchasing this near-new Pierce pumper sets our department up for success for years to come. We are maximizing our operational capabilities while remaining fiscally responsible to our community. We would also like to extend our thanks to Command Fire Apparatus for facilitating such a smooth and professional transaction.

The Pierce HD Rescue Pumper is designed to handle both structural fire suppression and advanced rescue operations, providing a more versatile response tool for the changing local landscape. Over the next few weeks, department crews will undergo rigorous training on the new apparatus and finalize the installation of specialized equipment. The vehicle will officially go into active service once outfitting and personnel training are complete.
