Larceny Suspects Charged

August 26, 2026 Bladen County Sheriffโ€™s Office was notified of a breaking or entering as well as severe property damage that occurred at the recently closed down East Arcadia Primary School.
Investigators immediately completed an initial walk through of the school. Upon the initial walk through there were 12 AC units missing or destroyed as well as a large quantity of copper pipe and wires cut and stripped from the interior of the building. Interviews were conducted with locals living near the school. One individual stated they saw two white males in a gray jeep with a trailer. Witnesses said the trailer was loaded down with a lot of scrap metal and miscellaneous metal materials.
August 31, 2026 at around 1100hrs Investigators were contacted by a Columbus County Sheriffโ€™s Office Deputy who had been contacted by anonymous caller who advised that Forrest Ray Kelly and Brandon Johnson Inman were responsible for breaking into East Arcadia Schools and stealing items to be scrapped.
On September 1, 2026 Investigators were contacted by a Bladen County Schools Maintenance member who stated that he was currently at East Arcadia School and there had been another break in at the East Arcadia Primary School that occurred within the last two days. There was an additional two whole outdoor air condition units that were stolen. Bladen County Schools Maintenance Department provided that the total loss of stolen or damaged property could exceed $200,000.00.
That same day a search warrant of Inman's residence was executed on Burnham Street Delco, NC and its curtilage. Several items were located and identified to be stolen from East Arcadia School.
After recovering the property and issuing an arrest warrant, Brandon Inman was taken into custody by Bladen County Sheriffโ€™s Office Deputies. During Inmanโ€™s initial interview he admitted to breaking in and stealing from East Arcadia School along with Forrest Kelly. Warrants were then issued for Forrest Kelly for the same charges. Kelly was taken into custody by Columbus County Sheriffโ€™s Office. Kelly had additional charges pending as well.
Both suspects were charged with:
Felony Breaking and Entering
Felony Larceny
Inman was transported to Bladen County Detention Center and received a $200,000 bond.
Kelly was transported to Columbus County Detention Center and received No Bond.
Thank you for the continued team work with Columbus County Sheriffโ€™s Office. This is still an active investigation. No additional information to be released at this time.

UPDATE: East Bladen High School

Earlier today, East Bladen High School was placed on lockdown following a potential issue involving a student and an off-campus boyfriend.

At this time, there appears to be no threat to the school or students. The lockdown has been lifted, and school will be dismissed on its normal schedule.

As an added precaution, the Bladen County Sheriffโ€™s Office has additional deputies on location to assist with maintaining a safe and orderly dismissal and to help ensure the safety of students and staff.

We appreciate everyoneโ€™s patience and cooperation as we work to keep our students and schools safe.
