Last Friday, the elementary school’s PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions & Support) team came around for its first PAWS store of the year!

Throughout the week, students have an opportunity to earn PAWS bucks for demonstrating our values:

🐾 Practice Responsibility
🐾 Acceptance
🐾 We’re Accountable
🐾 Safety

The PBIS team focuses on encouraging and improving our values through good attendance, recognizing students of the month and those showing extraordinary kindness, and school-wide character building activities!

Also, we appreciate our social work intern, Liliana Shaffer, for being a part of the PBIS team and helping with our PAWS store!

Reminder to all parents and guardians that student health requirements are due October 1st. If your child has an appointment scheduled for a date after October 1st, please have the clinic fax a copy of the scheduled appointment date to the school office as soon as possible. If you have questions or are unsure whether your child is in need of a health requirement, please contact the school nurse.

Please remember that student athletes require a separate athletic physical completed on the appropriate IHSA form. Make sure your healthcare provider completes the correct athletic physical form before turning it in to the school.

Dental Safari will be at our school September 16th and 17th! Please return your Dental Safari forms as soon as possible so your child can participate and be seen. If you need a new form please email Mrs. Jordan Austin, [email protected] .

Last Friday, elementary students met in the multipurpose room for the AR Kickoff. Students were introduced to the new dog tag rewards program. Students can now accumulate points for their elementary career for exciting rewards. Students also have a new Mystery Box Challenge where students work together to earn 8,000 AR points. Once the points are earned, the box will be unlocked to discover what’s inside!

The final kickoff activity was mini animals from Goshen Acre Farm. Students were able to pet and feed the adorable animals!

To help encourage students' love of reading, all Hardin County students can receive a FREE library card from the Rosiclare Library!

Starbooks is a reading initiative designed for students in grades 2–5, encouraging them to branch out and discover books they may not have encountered before.

Students received their own drink while browsing through a variety of book genres and creating a list of titles that caught their interest. The goal of the event was to inspire students to explore new genres, discover new authors, and find books they are excited to read throughout the school year.

The event was organized by Holly Cook, Stephanie Mosby, and Darian Jackson.

We are incredibly grateful to our guest speaker, Terrence Lee Talley, for taking the time to share such an honest, meaningful, and encouraging message with our Jr. High and High School students. By speaking openly about mental health, trauma, perseverance, resilience, and the importance of making positive life choices, you helped remind our students that challenges do not have to define their future. And a shout out to the awesome teachers who were good sports and willing to join in the fun!
