🚒Elizabethtown Fire Department Receives Small Equipment Grant 🚒

The Elizabethtown Fire Department is proud to announce that we have been awarded $25,760 through the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Small Equipment Grant Program.
This funding will be used to purchase new turnout gear for our firefighters, helping ensure they have the protective equipment needed to safely respond to emergencies and continue providing the highest level of service to our community.

We are grateful to the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal for their support of fire departments across Illinois. Investments like this directly contribute to the safety of our firefighters and the residents we serve.

Big Creek Bridge, which carries County Road 12 over Big Creek, near the Iron Furnace recreation site in Hardin County, is reduced to a single central lane due to deteriorating bridge conditions. Motorists should slow down when approaching and traveling over the bridge.

🚧 For your safety, do not move cones or go around barriers.
🚫There is a 14-foot width restriction.
🛣 Single-lane reduction will remain in place until the bridge is replaced.

Shawnee National Forest engineers are actively working on a replacement timeline and updates will be provided when available.
