Liberty: The Saga of Sycamore Shoals 'Liberty! The Saga of Sycamore Shoals,' is the Official Outdoor Drama of the State of Tennessee! Join us for one of 10 productions during four weekends in June!

The Official Outdoor Drama of the State of Tennessee begins its 42nd season in June of 2021 at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area in Elizabethton. Tennessee’s official outdoor drama is presented by a cast of local performers against the backdrop of Fort Watauga. Liberty! portrays the significant history of Sycamore Shoals during the late 18th century. The concept of outdoor drama offers a very un

ique format in which to present a theatrical performance. Without a doubt, experiencing live theater, beside the cool waters of the Watauga River, with Fort Watauga as the backdrop to the play, is unlike any other. Theatrical lighting, professional sound, and a host of unexpected effects completely immerse the audience in the lifestyles of the late 18th century.

Speaking and non-speaking roles are open for ages 6 years and up. Help celebrate our region's history by bringing it to life! Liberty! performances take place the first four weekends in June. We always honor veterans and first responders but especially this Thursday, June 20 when veterans and first responders’ plus 1 tickets are free. Come by the Visitors' Center at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park before the show for an armband - no pre-registration online needed. We’ll see you there! 🇺🇸
