A huge thanks to the 24 volunteers from UNC's marathon team and RiverCity YouthBuild for digging the footers for our new house yesterday. They got the job done in 2 hours! Way to go everyone!

Join us as we break ground and dig the footers for our latest house on Lowe St. in Elizabeth City. Bring your shovels and share our excitement as we begin this new project.

Our 6 volunteers donated 15.5 hours today to remove the old tub and install insulation before the new shower unit is installed. We also completed several small repairs that the visually-impaired homeowner needed. Plumbers will install the new step-in shower tomorrow and we'll be back on Thursday to begin the finishing work.

By 2030, 20% of the U.S. population will be 65 or older. Yet, more than 19 million older adults live in homes that are in disrepair or ill-equipped to meet their needs safely.

In addition to building new houses, we also partner with older adults to make accessibility upgrades to their homes. These upgrades allow seniors to continue living in their homes and communities while maintaining their independence and quality of life to age in place. We know that aging in place extends longevity and quality of life. Older adults are mentally and physically healthier, feel safer at home, and engage more with their family and friends.

I would like to thank Habitat for Humanity for the awesome work that was performed at my residence. The staff was professional, friendly and worked hard as a team to get the job done. My bathroom was remodeled with rails, floors were done and walls were painted. My hallway floors leading to the den, dining room and kitchen floors were done with vinyl flooring and they look marvelous, Thank you for a job well done and may God continue to bless your staff for their generosity.
