Several of our Emergency Communication Specialists (ECS) proudly participated in the 2026 OBX Polar Plunge hosted by Dare County Special Olympics in affiliation with Special Olympics North Carolina at Jennetteβs Pier on February 28.
Representing our agency as βThe Thneads for Speed,β our plungers embraced the spirit of the event dressed as Dr.Seuss's Lorax. π³
π Participants who took the plunge:
β’ ECS Asst. Supervisor J. Schwab
β’ ECS Asst. Supervisor J. Blankenship
β’ ECS K. Webb
β’ ECS B. Thompson
β’ PCSO Deputy R Durham
Although unable to attend, we also recognize fundraising team members ECS R. Barefoot and ECS M. Anstead for supporting this important cause.
π Our team raised $790 toward our $1,000 goal, with funds designated for Pasquotank/Camden Special Olympics. Donations are still being accepted if you would like to help them reach their goal!
This incredible event raised a total of $87,029, which will provide year-round sports training, competition, leadership opportunities, and health services to Special Olympics athletes in our community.
We are incredibly proud of this employee-led effort. Our team independently identified the fundraiser, volunteered their personal time, and chose to participate together while representing Pasquotank-Camden Central Communications in support of Special Olympics North Carolina. Thank you to everyone who donated, supported, and cheered them on.
