πŸ’¦β„οΈ Pasquotank-Camden Central Communications Takes the Plunge for Special Olympics! β„οΈπŸ’¦

Several of our Emergency Communication Specialists (ECS) proudly participated in the 2026 OBX Polar Plunge hosted by Dare County Special Olympics in affiliation with Special Olympics North Carolina at Jennette’s Pier on February 28.

Representing our agency as β€œThe Thneads for Speed,” our plungers embraced the spirit of the event dressed as Dr.Seuss's Lorax. 🌳

πŸ‘ Participants who took the plunge:
β€’ ECS Asst. Supervisor J. Schwab
β€’ ECS Asst. Supervisor J. Blankenship
β€’ ECS K. Webb
β€’ ECS B. Thompson
β€’ PCSO Deputy R Durham

Although unable to attend, we also recognize fundraising team members ECS R. Barefoot and ECS M. Anstead for supporting this important cause.

πŸ’™ Our team raised $790 toward our $1,000 goal, with funds designated for Pasquotank/Camden Special Olympics. Donations are still being accepted if you would like to help them reach their goal!

This incredible event raised a total of $87,029, which will provide year-round sports training, competition, leadership opportunities, and health services to Special Olympics athletes in our community.

We are incredibly proud of this employee-led effort. Our team independently identified the fundraiser, volunteered their personal time, and chose to participate together while representing Pasquotank-Camden Central Communications in support of Special Olympics North Carolina. Thank you to everyone who donated, supported, and cheered them on.

Our crew from Pasquotank-Camden Central Communications set sail for the Trunk-or-Treat on Friday, October 31st, and we had a swashbuckling good time!

Our Communications team transformed into pirates for the eveningβ€”complete with a ship, treasure chest, and even a β€œwalk the plank” challenge for brave trick-or-treaters! πŸ’€βš“πŸ¬

We had an amazing turnout and loved seeing all the creative costumes and smiling faces from our community. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit our pirate crew and share in the Halloween fun! πŸŽƒ
