Patrons & Friends!

We're getting ready for Summer Reading 2026!

Our theme this year is Plant a seed, Read! We'll have fun activites, crafts, amazing books and prizes and a visit from a local beekeeper and Liz the Compost Chick! We hope to see you and your kiddos there!

Our first event will be Thursday June 4th, 2026 at 10:30 AM!

Sign-ups are available from now until the end of the first summer reading event.

Patrons & Friends - The Elgin Public Library will be operating with significantly reduced hours from now until January 5th, 2026. We will be open FRIDAYS from 1-6PM as usual, but closed all other days and hours.

Normal Hours will resume from Monday, January 5th 2026.

Patrons & Friends - The Elgin Public Library will be CLOSED November 10th and 11th in observance of Veteran's day. We will resume normal operations on November 12th at 12:00 Noon.

To our community and patrons: LEAVING UNAPPROVED DONATIONS ON LIBRARY OR CITY PROPERTY IS DUMPING! IT IS A CRIME.

Yet again someone has dumped refuse materials on our Library's front patio table. This is not only extremely disrespectful but also a crime punishable by a serious fine.

This year alone we have had to dispose of hundreds of POUNDS of garbage books, magazines, and general refuse and if we are able to identify the responsible party via video we WILL be pressing charges. Period.

This is not a 'donation' it is criminal behavior. You LITERALLY had to stare at the sign warning you NOT To do what you did.

Please. If you have not been giving direct explicit permission do not leave ANYTHING on library or city property.

If this was YOU, and you come get your garbage, we will not press charges. If it's still here Monday, We'll be trying to identify you for the Sheriff.

Patrons and friends! Don't forget tomorrow is the big night! Come to the Elgin Public Library for Candy and gifts, and if you're trying to shake off a sugar rush, get a Dog or Sausage and your choice of Coffee, Cocoa or Cider for $4 or any drink for $1 - Proceeds go directly to your library!

Patrons and friends!

Our last summer reading program event will be a Pizza Party for registered kiddos and parents! It will start a 11:30 AM on Thursday, July 31st, 2025. We will be awarding prizes at 11:30 and the Pizza will arrive around Noon.

We loved having your kiddos with us this year, and we hope you all had a fantastic and silly time.

Patrons & Friends!

The Elgin Public Library will be CLOSED July 3rd and 4th in observance of Independence day! We will resume our normal hours on Monday, July 7th.

Patrons and friends of the Library! Our Annual book sale and Dogs on the deck ($5, Hot dog, soda, chips) are going on NOW! We'll be open and serving dogs until 2PM and Books are by donation (Envelopes available after 2) for a whole month! Come peruse our selection.

Patrons and friends of the Library! Don't forget this upcoming Saturday is Riverfest and that means Library Book Sale! This will be the largest book sale our library has EVER had, and we'll be doing 'Dogs on the Deck' again. Stop by and get a hotdog, soda, and chips for $5
