We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and deepest gratitude to the many law enforcement agencies, first responders, and members of our community who came together to show their love and support for the family of Officer Christopher DeLong Jr. during the Candlelight Vigil.

The outpouring of support, prayers, and kind words has meant more than we can express during this incredibly difficult time. We are especially grateful for the heartfelt messages shared by Chief Holbrook (CPD), Sheriff Lee Boan (KCSO), Ben Connell, Kershaw County Council Chairman, and Derek Shoemake, Kershaw County District 3.

A special video presentation was also dedicated to Christopher’s family by Patrick Davis, a renowned musician and songwriter from Kershaw County. His thoughtful gesture was a beautiful reminder of the compassion and support surrounding this family and our community.

We would also like to sincerely thank the businesses, organizations, and individuals who generously donated their time, services, and resources to help make the vigil possible: Walmart District 41, Elgin IGA, Food Lion, Hobby Lobby, Blaney Elementary School, and Elevator Branding.

To everyone who attended, reached out, prayed, donated, or simply stood beside this family during this painful time — thank you. Your kindness and support will not be forgotten.

Please continue to keep Officer Christopher DeLong Jr.’s family, loved ones, fellow officers, and our community in your thoughts and prayers.

Additionally, the Town of Elgin will have a Memorial Table at Town Hall. If you would like to give in person, or simply leave a card or note for the family, please bring that to Town Hall during normal business hours of Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-12:00 pm and 1:00 pm-5 pm.
