I’m proud to share that the Elgin Main Street Program has once again earned National Main Street Accreditation, a designation recognizing excellence in downtown revitalization and preservation.

This achievement reflects the work of many people over many years, from city leadership and staff to business owners, volunteers, community organizations, and residents who believe in the future of downtown Elgin.

“Elgin’s continued accreditation demonstrates its commitment to ensuring downtown remains a place where history, community, and opportunity continue to thrive together.”

Congratulations to Main Street Manager Kristina Alvarez, Assistant Uriel Campos, the Main Street Board, and everyone who contributes to keeping downtown Elgin vibrant and welcoming.

Small towns can accomplish big things when they invest in the places that matter most.

ELGIN BULK TRASH PICKUP
June 22-26

Got a couch that’s overstayed its welcome?
Or maybe a mattress that’s flatter than a pancake?
Don’t just let them haunt your garage.
Bulk Trash Pickup is here!

How it works:
👉 Bulk is picked up once per quarter on your regular trash day.
👉 Put items at the curb no earlier than 5 PM, two days before collection.
👉 Anything left behind must be removed by 7 AM the next day.

⚠️ But remember—some things are not invited to the curb party:
🐗 Dead animals
🌳 Whole trees
🛁 Construction debris (yep, that includes your old toilet)
💻 Electronics & hazardous waste
📦 Piles larger than a standard pickup truck bed
❌ Violating the rules (or going over the 3-cubic-yard limit) could earn you a fine.

✨ So keep it neat, keep it legal, and let’s get those bulky items moving out in style!
