The third graders just finished up their first unit in reading. They read three classic tales: “The Wind in the Willows,” “Mulan,” and “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” They wrote opinion paragraphs about a character and theme of their choice from “The Wind in the Willows.” They had to provide reasons of why they thought their character best showed hospitality, responsibility, irresponsibility, loyalty, or friendship. A celebration tea party similar to the tea party in “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” was enjoyed by all while listening to their classmates read their opinion paragraphs aloud. Excellent writing third graders! ✏️🙌🏻🤩

The 1st graders, over the last several weeks, have been learning all about the body. We learned five different systems that work together to keep our body functioning, five key habits to stay healthy, and the different kinds of fuel we should be putting in our bodies. They loved this unit!

💻 Digital Citizenship Symposium at ESU 8

On Tuesday, October 6, six of our students had the opportunity to attend the Digital Citizenship Symposium at ESU 8, where they spent the day learning more about what it means to be a responsible and thoughtful user of technology.

Throughout the day, students explored important topics including taking “tech timeouts,” the proper and responsible use of AI, accessibility, copyright, and how algorithms influence what we see online.

To wrap up the day, our students worked together to create a presentation summarizing what they learned and sharing an important message: Technology is an amazing tool, but using it responsibly—and knowing when to step away from it—is just as important. 📱➡️🌎

We are proud of the great work and thoughtful conversations from Payton, Harper, Eli, Harper, Charles, and Hannah! Thank you to ESU 8 for providing our students with this valuable learning opportunity!

Use technology as a tool—not a habit. Connect. Create. Learn. And don’t forget to unplug! 💙💻📵
