A Colorado billionaire, Marcel Arsenault, couldn't take no for an answer, so he buys his way into all levels of California politics. First it was six figure donations to influence the Board of Supervisors, then it was $850,000 "volunteer donation" offered to the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District. Instead of actually paying for a secondary access, he has opted to shower money at our elected officials. Now, State Senator Brian Jones seems to be on Team Arsenault as he has sneakily put forth a bill, SB 1256, in the State Senate specifically targeting our wildfire safety lawsuit. It was done behind closed doors, through a "gut and amend" process which would make the mob blush.

He did not even have the decency to reach out to any members of our community or Town Council. Interestingly, he does have a campaign committee opened up for Lieutenant Governor in 2030, so perhaps he thinks stabbing a community in the back will help him. Well, we're not giving up... because our lives depend on it.

A new bill could weaken Californians’ ability to challenge high-risk developments like Harmony Grove Village South in fire-prone areas.

Thank you to all the volunteers that came out to our Community Spring Cleanup on Saturday! The Elfin Forest Harmony Grove Fire Safe Council had a free wood chipping event that helped a lot of neighbors get rid of dry brush. The Escondido Creek Conservancy and The Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve both had volunteers cleaning the Escondido Creek and the Reserve so this year we may have had the most acreage cleaned. Don't be sad if you missed out this year, there is always next year. The more volunteers we get, the more of the community we can clean up.
