The Dundee crew had fun teaching Paradise ISD all about life on a fish hatchery.
Thank you to our Inland Fisheries Wichita Falls District - Texas Parks and Wildlife management crew for teaching about electrofishing and surveying fish.

🌞We have loads of Sunshine Bass fry!🌞

We had plenty of fry to stock onsite to grow out to fingerling size and enough excess to stock fry in Cedar Creek, Tawakoni, and Lewisville lake due to good hatch rates💪🐟

We're busy moving fish around the hatchery and getting them into their winter homes (ponds). Part of this process involves putting string across the ponds. This discourages birds from landing in the ponds and eating all of the fish when they migrate through. 🐟💦❄️

Microscope Monday🤓

There is so much more than meets the eye! 🧐

Here is water from Diversion Lake underneath a microscope. Pictured are 2 types of zooplankton, copepods (circles) and rotifers (squares). Zooplankton are important food sources for fry (newly hatched fish) and are monitored in our ponds to ensure there are adequate amounts. 🔬🐟

Have a Fin-tastic Friday, y'all!

We have stocked quite a few places this week. 9 water bodies received 9" Channel Catfish including Plum and Sikes Lake. We will also be stocking our usual Neighborhood Fishin' sites today (South Weeks, South Lakes, and Medical Center South). We even managed to sneak in some bluegill fingerling stockings. 🐟🎣
