POWER RESTORED!

The Electra Police Department is aware of a widespread power outage affecting Electra and numerous surrounding cities/counties across both Texas and Oklahoma. We are currently in contact with Wichita County Emergency Management officials and local Southwest Rural Electric crews as they work to address the outage.

It is our understanding at this time that the damage or repair needed is located in Oklahoma; however, no further information is currently available.

At this time, there is no estimated time for power restoration. We encourage all residents to prepare and plan accordingly.

The Electra Fire Department will be open as a cooling and charging station for those in need.

Please remember to check on your neighbors, especially the elderly and those who may need assistance. Stay safe and continue to monitor for updates.

On March 13, 2026, at approximately 10:20 a.m., the Electra Police Department responded to a burglary call in the 500 block of N. Wilbarger.

Upon arrival, officers heard movement coming from inside the vacant residence. Officers made contact with Dan Green, who was exiting the home through a broken window. As officers gave commands, Green removed his hands from his pockets and threw an object toward a nearby wall before exiting. He was then taken into custody without further incident.

During the investigation, officers observed damage inside the residence consistent with copper wiring being removed. Green was also found to be in possession of tools commonly used to cut wiring. The object thrown by Green was later located and identified as a glass pipe containing a substance consistent with methamphetamine.

Green was arrested and charged with Burglary of a Building and Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence.

The Electra Police Department would like to thank the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance and backup during the incident. We appreciate the continued cooperation between our agencies as we work together to keep our community safe.

Let this serve as a reminder: if you commit a crime in Electra, you will be caught, you will be arrested, and you will be taken to jail.

Arrest Made Following Semi-Truck Investigation

On March 2, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Electra Police Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of West Highland after receiving a report of a semi-truck that had become stuck on a residential street.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the driver, identified as Marjon Burns. During the course of the investigation, officers detected the odor of ma*****na emitting from the cab of the semi. A probable cause search was conducted, which resulted in the discovery of suspected ma*****na and a firearm in the driver’s possession.

Burns was taken into custody and charged with Unlawful Carry of a Weapon.

The Electra Police Department emphasizes that the presence of ma*****na and a firearm in a commercial motor vehicle operated on public roadways presents a serious safety risk. Commercial drivers are held to a higher standard due to the size and potential impact of these vehicles, and violations of the law while operating a semi-truck endanger not only the driver but the public at large.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
