📐 Math in action in Mr. Martonfi’s 7th grade classroom!

Today, Mr. Martonfi's students were working through an MDC Formative Assessment Lesson (FAL) focused on proportions. Rather than simply working through a set of problems, students had to think, discuss, explain their reasoning, and learn from one another along the way.

These are the moments we love to see—students doing the thinking, talking about the math, and growing their understanding together.

🧪 Learning by doing in 6th grade science!

Our 6th graders were busy in the lab today! Mrs. Slawson’s and Mrs. Boudreau’s classes practiced accurate measurement using graduated cylinders, triple beam balances, and meter sticks.

Labs like this give students a chance to do more than read about science—they get to use the tools, practice the process, problem-solve, and build skills they’ll use throughout the year.

We love seeing our Mustangs learning, practicing, and growing together.

💵 GOOD DEEDS DOLLARS! 💵

At EMS, we want to notice and celebrate students who are caught doing good. Good Deeds Dollars are handed out to students when staff see them doing something that makes our school better—helping someone, taking initiative, showing kindness, or simply doing the right thing when no one asked them to.

And we have our first Good Deeds Dollar of the year! 🎉

Congratulations to Hezekiah Wazir! Hezekiah noticed a mess in our building and, instead of walking past it or waiting for someone else to take care of it, he asked Ms. Sunni for a broom and cleaned it up himself.

That's the Mustang Way in action:
🐴 Be Safe.
🐴 Be Respectful.
🐴 Be Responsible.

Hezekiah saw something that needed to be done, took responsibility, and left our school a little better than he found it.

That's what we're after at EMS—leaving people and places better than we found them.

Way to set the tone, Hezekiah! 💛

Good Morning,
Our fall sports season kicks off this evening with our MS Football team traveling to California to take on the Pintos. Reminder, tonight's game will not begin until at least 6:00 due to excessive heat. This means our bus will not depart the MS until 5:00. Athletes will stay after school this afternoon like normal. The game will be played at the HS Field (1501 West Buchanon, California, MO. 65018). California wanted to let parents know that they will have a concession stand available but will only be serving drinks (NO FOOD).

Good Morning,

We wanted to let our MS Football parents know that the game on Thursday evening in California will begin at 6:00 due to the high temperatures. Administration will be monitoring the temperature to ensure safety guidelines are followed before starting the game. We will send out directions and bus leave times on Thursday morning.

MS Softball will be practicing at the Indoor Training Facility this afternoon. We will transport students after school and practice will end at 5:30.

MS Boys XC will end practice tonight at 4:30.

📚✨ Week One at EMS is in the books!

The halls are full again, routines are taking shape, and our Mustangs are settling into a brand-new school year.

This week was about reconnecting with friends, meeting teachers, learning new routines, trying new things, and getting back into the rhythm of school. And through it all, we’ve already seen plenty of moments that remind us why we love having our students back in the building.

We’re just getting started, Mustangs. 💛

Here’s to a year of learning, growing, and leaving people and places better than we found them.
