Elbert County 4-H

Elbert County 4-H A world in which youth and adults learn, grow, and work together as catalysts for positive change! There are no dues or uniforms for 4-H; everyone is welcome.

Elbert County 4-H’s purpose is to reach the youth of our county with un-biased, research based information and to provide “hands on” learning through practical application. The work that Elbert County 4-H does in and with the schools enhances the Georgia Performance Standards. 4-H can truly submerge young people into science through project work and experiential learning at one of the five Georgia

4-H Centers. Elbert County 4-H provides numerous opportunities for youth and families at low cost. There are animal projects, target sport projects, leadership projects, community service projects and so much more right here in Elbert County 4-H. 4-H is able to further opportunities through scholarships. Most importantly, research validates that 4-H’ers succeed, they stay in school, they become contributing citizens and the leaders of our state. Not only does 4-H prepare young people for tomorrow, it also gives them the strength to face today.

Rounding out our celebration for Elbert County 4-H’ers who competed at THE Southern Regional Horse Championship, we have Timothy & Lena! 🐴 This pair competed in the Ranch Division, placing 7th in the Boxing Class (look it up - it’s fun to watch)! Our students represented Elbert County & Georgia 4-H well during the event. Any time they get to compete at an invitational only, national show, it’s a big deal! 🎉

For the first time in recent history (20 years), Elbert County 4-H had a contestant in the Educational or Communication Contests at the Southern Regional Horse Championship! 🎤 The honor was earned by winning the Public Speaking Contest at the Georgia 4-H Horse Show in June. Congratulations to Adrian who placed 6th with his speech, “The Long Shot,” competing against high schoolers from a total of 13 states. Thanks to Cloverbud Ava for showing off Adrian’s award! 🍀🎉

It's SOUTHERN REGIONAL HORSE CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK!! We have several students competing in Perry, Georgia this week, and we can wait to share their successes!

Aiden and LJ started off the competion for Elbert County 4-H. The pair competed against 12 other states in the Gaited Division. Congratulations to our youngest competitor for an outstanding showing!

We got to welcome the Sister City exchange group from Mure-Cho, Japan to our new building yesterday and spend time exploring different places and activities in our community!

It was a packed day that started at the office, moved to the pickleball courts at McWilliams Park, a pit-stop by the Chamber of Commerce office, lunch at Flat Tire Grill, dessert at Sugar Mama's Bake Shop. Then, we went on to Breanna and Johnathan Evan's horse farm where 4-H'er Ayden gave a demonstration and led students on the horse. We wrapped up our part of the day cooling off at Watson Mill!

We are so grateful to everyone who makes this program happen and the many hands involved in planning the annual 4-H day!

This is an experience that these four competitors will never forget!
They stepped outside their comfort zones, overcame their nerves, and proudly represented Elbert County in competition. Along the way, they made new friends from across the state, built confidence, and created memories that will last a lifetime. We're so proud of each of these 4-H'ers for their hard work, courage, and willingness to challenge themselves! We are also proud of Makayla McKnight for placing 2nd in Human Development!
