NOTICE OF PLANNING COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING AND PUBLIC HEARING ON THE ADOPTION OF THE ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE ZONING ORDINANCE IN ITS ENTIRETY AND TO UPDATE THE ZONING MAP
TO: THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELBERTA, BENZIE COUNTY, MICHIGAN AND ALL OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS:
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Village of Elberta Planning Commission will hold a regular meeting and public hearing on October 7th , 2026 at 6:15 p.m. at the Community Building located at 401 First Street, Elberta, MI 49628, to consider the adoption of the ordinance to amend the zoning ordinance in its entirety and to update the zoning map.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a copy of the entire text of the proposed Ordinance may be obtained from the Village Clerk, at times to be arranged with the Clerk and will be available at said hearing for public inspection. The Village of Elberta Planning Commission and Village of Elberta Village Council reserve the right to make changes to the above proposed ordinance at or following the public hearing.
All interested persons are invited to be present and speak or provide written comments at the aforesaid time and place. Written comments concerning the proposed amendment will be received by mail; email; or in person (at the addresses below) any time prior to this public hearing, and may further be submitted to the Planning Commission at the public hearing.
The Village will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and audio tapes of printed material being considered at the hearing, to individuals with disabilities at the hearing upon five (5) days' notice to the Village Clerk. Individuals with disabilities requiring auxiliary aids or services should contact the Village Clerk at the address or telephone number listed below.

IN THE MASTER PLAN
TO: THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELBERTA, BENZIE COUNTY, MICHIGAN AND ALL OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS:
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Village of Elberta Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on October 7th , 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Building located at 401 First Street, Elberta, MI 49628, within the Village, to receive public comment, both written and verbal, on a proposed amendment to the Village of Elberta Master Plan Future Land Use Map.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTE that anyone interested in reviewing the proposed amendment to the Future Land Use Map in the Master Plan may request to see or have emailed a copy from the Village Clerk. The proposed amendment has also been posted on the Village website at villageofelberta.com. Said proposed amendment will be available for public examination at the hearing.

Now Hiring: Part-Time Treasurer Village of Elberta
The Village of Elberta is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time position:
• Treasurer (16 hrs/week) — appointed official
These roles are essential to the Village’s financial and administrative operations and must adhere to Michigan laws, the General Law Village Act, GAAP, GASB, and all relevant financial and tax regulations.
Treasurer Minimum Qualifications: Degree in accounting or related field from an accredited institution – Minimum 2 years of relevant experience – Proficiency in office systems, Excel, accounting/bookkeeping software – Strong planning, organization, and judgment skills – Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, officials, and the public – Must be bondable and obtain Notary Public certification within 1 month
Preferred (Treasurer): Experience with BS&A software – Municipal accounting background – Knowledge of Michigan statutes and local government operations
Compensation: Based on experience.

Elberta Parks and Recreation is sponsoring the First Annual Community Cup Kickball Championship on October 4th to bring the Community together for fun and games and to raise a little money to improve the ballfield and associated buildings for youth sports. We have teams being organized in Elberta and Benzonia. Looking for two more area teams to join us. Also for volunteers to help with food and logistics. Let us know if you want to get involved!
