Need assistance with recreation program fees? The Recreation Program Scholarship helps eligible El Segundo residents participate in a variety of Recreation & Parks programs and activities throughout the year, including sports, camps, swim programs, fitness classes, arts programs, and more!

Eligible residents may receive up to $200 per person and $600 per household annually. Scholarship eligibility is based on household size and income, and applications are accepted year-round.

For the current May through July application period, scholarships will be reviewed and awarded on a rolling basis throughout the summer, so approved applicants will not need to wait until August to receive assistance.

Soccer fans, this one’s for you!⚽️🏆 Join us for a public screening of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ match between Brazil and Morocco at Recreation Park on Saturday, June 13. Bring your friends and family for an afternoon of soccer, activities, and community fun on the Checkout Grass!

Activities and game booths begin at 1:00pm, followed by the live match viewing at 3:00pm.

Grab your sunscreen…Hilltop Pool is opening THIS WEEKEND!☀️ Hilltop Pool will be open weekends only beginning Saturday, May 23 through June 14, from 12:00pm–5:00pm. Starting June 15, the pool will be open daily through August 31.

Hilltop Pool is free for residents with a valid Rec ID. Non-resident admission is $7 for adults and $5 for youth.

Earlier today, Parks staff removed a large Acacia tree from Library Park due to internal decay and canopy dieback caused by fungus growth within the trunk. The tree was located above a seating area and was removed for public safety.

A replacement tree will be planted in the near future as part of ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and healthy park environment. 🌳☀️

Happy International Water Safety Day!

Drowning is preventable, yet it remains a leading cause of accidental death for children and teens. Staying vigilant and practicing water safety skills year-round can make all the difference.

✔️ Follow posted safety signs and lifeguard guidance
✔️ Never swim alone—always swim where lifeguards or designated water watchers are present
✔️ Actively supervise children in and around water. At El Segundo City pools, children under 5 must remain within arm’s reach of a supervising adult at all times
✔️ Use properly fitted, U.S. Coast Guard–approved life jackets for inexperienced swimmers

Swim lessons are one of the best ways to build confidence and safety in the water. We offer year-round lessons for all ages. Registration for summer swim lessons opens June 5 for residents and June 8 for non-residents. Learn more at www.esrec.org or call 310-524-2738.

IT’S TIME…The Plunge reopens on Saturday, June 6! 🎉

Celebrate the reopening of the historic Urho Saari Swim Stadium with a day of music, tours, and more! Festivities begin at 11:00am and include a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by self-guided tours of the newly renovated facility. This portion of the event is free and open to the public.

The afternoon continues with “First in the Pool” Recreation Swim sessions from 1:30pm–3:00pmand 3:30pm–5:00pm. Tickets must be reserved prior to the event. Residents receive 1 free ticket with a valid Rec ID, with additional tickets available for $20 each. Tickets can be purchased at the Aquatics Center, Checkout Building, or online at ESREC.org. Resident sale begins on May 20, and non-resident sale begins on June 1.Space is limited to 125 participants per session.
