Join us for the Opening Reception of Blast: Trancazos de la Vida Real on Friday, June 26 from 5:30-7:30 PM!

In this exhibition, Blast explores the tension between desire, survival, and excess in contemporary American culture. Using bold color, distorted symbols of wealth and entertainment, and imagery drawn from everyday street life, the work examines how consumer culture shapes identity, self-worth, and survival. Rooted in the realities of the borderlands, the exhibition reflects the experiences of working-class communities and those often pushed to society's margins.

Martin "Blast" Zubia is a recipient of the Museums and Cultural Affairs Department (MCAD) Cultural Funding Program. Through its Artist Incubator Program (AIP), MCAD supports El Paso artists in creating new work while advancing the city's cultural vitality.

Trancazos de la Vida Real is presented in partnership with MCAD’s Artist Incubator Program. Support for the project is provided by the Mellon Foundation, the Texas Commission on the Arts, and the El Paso Museum of Art Foundation.

Join us for FREE Sound Bath meditation at EPMA on Sunday, June 14, at 12:00-1:30 PM. As always, no registration is required. Make sure to bring a yoga mat and a blanket for maximum relaxation. The theme of this sound bath is “Learning to Say No”

Saying “no” can often feel uncomfortable, especially when it is tied to fear of disappointing others or losing connection. This session creates space to explore that discomfort with curiosity rather than judgment. Participants are encouraged to reflect on their relationship with choice, obligation, and self-trust. Rather than prescribing behavior, the focus is on expanding awareness and allowing each individual to define what feels aligned for them. The sound bath will support clarity and inner steadiness, helping participants connect with their own sense of agency.

Presented in collaboration with Live Active El Paso. Support provided by Art Bridges.

Join us for FREE Sound Bath meditation at EPMA on Sunday, June 7, at 12:00-1:30 PM. As always, no registration is required. Make sure to bring a yoga mat and a blanket for maximum relaxation. The theme of this sound bath is “Protecting Your Energy”

This session centers on the idea that personal boundaries are not about pushing others away, but about creating a sense of safety and sustainability within oneself. We will explore how energy can feel depleted in daily life and how awareness of our limits can support overall well-being. Participants are invited to reflect on where they may feel overextended and what it might look like to honor their needs, even in small ways. The sound bath will emphasize containment and stability, offering a space where participants can experience a sense of energetic support.
