Join us for the Opening Reception of Blast: Trancazos de la Vida Real on Friday, June 26 from 5:30-7:30 PM!
In this exhibition, Blast explores the tension between desire, survival, and excess in contemporary American culture. Using bold color, distorted symbols of wealth and entertainment, and imagery drawn from everyday street life, the work examines how consumer culture shapes identity, self-worth, and survival. Rooted in the realities of the borderlands, the exhibition reflects the experiences of working-class communities and those often pushed to society's margins.
Martin "Blast" Zubia is a recipient of the Museums and Cultural Affairs Department (MCAD) Cultural Funding Program. Through its Artist Incubator Program (AIP), MCAD supports El Paso artists in creating new work while advancing the city's cultural vitality.
Trancazos de la Vida Real is presented in partnership with MCAD’s Artist Incubator Program. Support for the project is provided by the Mellon Foundation, the Texas Commission on the Arts, and the El Paso Museum of Art Foundation.
