At its May 7, 2026 Regular Meeting, the Mountain View School District Board of Education adopted a resolution regarding potential data center development within or near District boundaries.

The discussion followed community concerns and rumors suggesting that the District’s Madrid Property was being considered as a potential data center site. While this was not the case, the Board recognized the importance of proactively addressing the issue, as neighboring cities, school districts, and public agencies have also begun examining the potential impacts of data center development. Further, the board strongly believes the community's voice is the determining factor in these matters.

The Mountain View School District Resolution states that:
--
The Board opposes the approval, expansion, or siting of data centers unless a thorough environmental review is conducted to evaluate potential impacts on students, school facilities, utilities, and community resources. It also emphasizes meaningful community input — including feedback from underserved and unincorporated communities — so decisions are informed by those most impacted.
--
MVSD remains committed to transparency, student well-being, and protecting the long-term interests of our schools and community.

A previous statement on March 19, 2026, regarding the former Madrid School property and data centers shared that the District has had no communication about, nor has it considered, the Madrid property for use as a data center. Both statements can be found under Latest News at mtviewschools.com.

Behind every great school is a principal who somehow manages to be a leader, problem-solver, cheerleader, event planner, counselor, and occasional “where-is-that-student-supposed-to-be-right-now” detective… all before lunch. 😄📚

Today, we celebrate our 9 incredible principals at Mountain View School District—educators at heart who started in the classroom and felt called to do even more. 🍎 Their compassion, dedication, and steady leadership are what keep our schools thriving. They show up for students, support staff, partner with families, and somehow still find time to answer that one more email at the end of the day. 💻✉️

They set the tone. They build the culture. They are the heartbeat of every campus. ❤️🏫

We know the job asks a lot—and then some. And while they may go home to their own families each night, they’ve also committed themselves to nurturing our MVSD family every single day. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦✨

To our principals: you are our superheroes (no cape required… but we wouldn’t be surprised if you had one tucked in your office 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️). Thank you for your leadership, your heart, and your unwavering commitment to Inspiring Each Student, each staff member, and each family to succeed—every day. 🌟
