🎃👻 What an AMAZING night at El Monte’s Trunk or Treat!

This is hands down one of my favorite community events of the year! ❤️

A huge THANK YOU to our El Monte Police Department and Police Officers Association for continuing this wonderful tradition that brings our community together year after year!

I’m also incredibly grateful to all the organizations, community partners, and volunteers who showed up to make tonight so special for our families. And a HUGE THANK YOU to our public works crew and parks and rec staff for all of their hard work in making this event a success!

One of the highlights of my evening was getting to judge the Halloween costume contests! 🏆🎃 So many creative costumes and adorable little ones!

Seeing our streets filled with families, laughter, and community spirit is what makes El Monte so special. Events like these remind me why I love our city so much!

It was a wonderful day celebrating the ribbon cutting of the Mountain View School District’s new district offices! 🎉✂️

It was especially great seeing so many parents, enjoying performances by our talented school band, and getting to meet a few of our amazing students!

THE POLICE UNION WANTS TO TALK ABOUT TAXPAYER SPENDING? LET’S TALK FACTS.

The POA is attacking me over office furniture purchased when the City Council expanded from 5 to 7 members. What they’re leaving out? I requested to keep my old furniture! City staff insisted on new furniture, which remains city property.

Meanwhile, according to the City’s own budget, the El Monte Police Department spent OVER $13 MILLION IN REGULAR OVERTIME IN JUST THREE YEARS! That’s a nearly 90% increase in annual spending from 2020–21 to 2022–23.

And here’s another issue that deserves attention: overtime associated with our SWAT team’s operations in other cities.

El Monte residents deserve to know how much those operations cost, whether other jurisdictions reimburse our city, and how much El Monte taxpayers ultimately pay.

Where is the POA’s concern about those expenses?

I support our officers and public safety. But that doesn’t mean any department gets a blank check.

My furniture stays at City Hall. Police overtime is a recurring multimillion-dollar expense in addition to their departmental budget.

Accountability should apply to EVERY taxpayer dollar.

El Monte, I’ve been out knocking on doors across our city, and I’ve walked some neighborhoods in EVERY district! 🚶🏻‍♀️❤️

Today’s door knocking is extra special because I have my #1 fan by my side — my MOM! ❤️

A little throwback! ⏪ It all started in 2018, when I first ran for El Monte City Council. Now, in 2026, eight years later, I’m proud to be the longest-serving current member of the City Council!

From knocking on doors as a first-time candidate for school board in 2013 to knocking on doors thirteen years later in 2026, one thing hasn’t changed — my commitment to staying connected with our residents! ❤️

Today, I was honored to join our veterans, military families, and community partners at the 7th Annual Heroes in the Shadows Stand Down in El Monte. 🇺🇸

This event is about more than recognizing service. It’s about giving back to those who have sacrificed so much for our country by connecting them with essential resources, healthcare, housing assistance, and support.

A heartfelt thank you to El Monte VFW Post 10218, Vet Hunters Project, the 155th CSSB Army Reserve, and all the sponsors and volunteers who made today’s event possible.

Our commitment to our veterans should never end when their military service does. They deserve our gratitude, our respect, and our continued support.

To all who have served, thank you. We honor you today and every day. 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙

I’ve joined nurses on the picket line to fight for fair wages, safe staffing, and better working conditions. The people who take care of our families deserve that same commitment in return, and I’ll keep showing up for them.

Some of my greatest blessings are standing right beside me. ❤️

My parents have been by my side through every chapter of my life. Their unconditional love, encouragement, sacrifices, and unwavering support have given me the strength to keep going, even through the hardest moments.

They came to this country from Yucatán, Mexico, planted their roots in El Monte, and built a life centered on family, hard work, and service. Those are the values they passed on to me, and they continue to guide me every single day.

No matter how old I get or where this journey takes me, I will always be grateful to have Mom and Dad by my side. They are my role models, my strongest supporters, and my rock. ❤️🇲🇽🇺🇸
