🥎 EL MONTE, LET’S RALLY BEHIND AHS! 🥎

Tomorrow, the Arroyo High School Varsity Softball team will make history as only the SECOND Varsity Softball team in Arroyo history to compete in a CIF Championship game and potentially become the school’s second CIF Championship team in 40 years, following Arroyo’s championship victory in 1986! What an incredible accomplishment for these student-athletes, coaches, families, and the entire Knight community. 💙💛

As a former softball player myself, I can still remember the excitement, nerves, and pride that come with moments like this. There is truly nothing like playing for a championship.

Now it’s our turn as a community to cheer them on. El Monte, put on your rally caps and wish these amazing young women the best of luck as they head to Irvine tomorrow for a 4PM CIF Championship showdown!

Let’s go Knights!!! 🥎👏🔥

Today, I had the honor of attending both the El Monte and South El Monte Memorial Day ceremonies.

Together, we paused to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage and selflessness secured the freedoms we enjoy today, and we owe them a debt of gratitude that can never truly be repaid.

It was wonderful to see so many residents, veterans, military families, and community leaders come together in remembrance. I was also glad to see Congressman Gil Cisneros and join him in honoring our fallen heroes.

May we never forget those who gave everything for our country. 🇺🇸

Last night at the El Monte Night Market, we celebrated National Public Works Week and showcased a project that is transforming transportation in our community. 🚍⚡🚲

Through the Clean Mobility Nexus Program, El Monte secured $6.7 million in grant funding to bring innovative transportation options directly to our residents.

✔️ 5 electric buses
✔️ 20 electric carshare vehicles
✔️ Over 200 e-bikes available to residents
✔️ New public EV charging stations throughout the city

These investments are helping reduce emissions, improve access to transportation, and create a healthier, more sustainable future for El Monte.

It was also a wonderful opportunity to recognize and thank our Public Works team for their hard work and dedication to keeping our city running every day. I enjoyed spending the evening talking with residents, helping address community concerns, and connecting with students from our local schools who stopped by with their families.

A special thank you to our partners at Active SGV, Mobility Development, and the California Air Resources Board for helping make this vision a reality. Together, we are building a cleaner, more connected, and more sustainable El Monte. 💚

Leaving Sunday service today feeling inspired, grounded, and grateful. Reflecting on our National Day of Prayer and what a beautiful morning it was as pastors and clergy leaders from across our community came together to uplift our nation, our city, and our families in prayer.

One of the moments that touched me most was when our pastors surrounded me and my colleagues to pray over us. Leadership can carry a heavy weight at times, and those prayers were a powerful reminder that faith, unity, and community matter.

Grateful for God’s guidance, for those who continue to pray for our city, and for the reminder that none of us walk this journey alone. 🙏🤍

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the incredible moms and mother figures in El Monte and beyond. 💐

Motherhood has been one of the greatest blessings of my life, and I am forever grateful for my children, Eddie and Julie, who made me a mom. Today, I also celebrate my own mother, whose love, strength, and selflessness shaped the woman and leader I am today. ❤️

Wishing every mom a beautiful day filled with love, appreciation, and family.

On Thursday, May 7, I had the pleasure of celebrating Mother’s Day early with our seniors at the Senior Center. 💐🎶

From the mariachi music to the laughter and dancing, it was such a beautiful afternoon filled with joy and community. I’m especially blessed to be able to share these special moments with my parents. ❤️

Today’s events were deeply disappointing, especially on the National Day of Prayer. I have stayed silent through a lot, but today I felt it was important to speak publicly and share my heart. 💞

Big decisions were made at our April 22 City Council meeting 👇

✅ The City Council extended the temporary moratorium on new data center applications through March 2027 to allow more time to evaluate long-term impacts on our community, including energy use, water demand, traffic, and neighborhood compatibility.

🚧 We also approved additional contingency funding for the Garvey Underpass project to address unforeseen construction conditions and keep the project moving forward. While there will be temporary impacts during construction, the underpass will remain open to traffic and local businesses will continue to have access.

Swipe through for the full recap ➡️ and don’t forget to save the dates for upcoming community events!
