Over 30 years caring for all native wildlife and reptiles in Arkansas. As one of many ways to preserve and protect our natural environment, wildlife rehabilitation provides unique insights into issues affecting wildlife populations, species and habitats, and contributes to wildlife conservation and protection worldwide. Wildlife rehabilitation is the process of providing professional care to injur

ed, orphaned, displaced, or distressed wild animals in such a way that they may survive when returned to their native habitats. It also involves being proactive to prevent problems with wildlife and humanely resolving mounting human-wildlife conflicts. Wildlife rehabilitation is part science, part education, part problem-solving, and part care-giving. It is a quickly developing field with a rapidly expanding base of knowledge and ever-increasing professional standards.

As adorable as wild animals are, did you know it’s not only illegal in certain states to care for them without a license, it’s also just not fair to them.

Wildlife deserve to stay wild and have the chance to be released back where they belong. Trainings, classes, inspections, permits… there’s a reason wildlife rehabilitation is so heavily regulated. These rules exist not only for human safety, but for the health, wellbeing, and future of the animals themselves.

When wildlife are raised alone or improperly, they often cannot be released. They may not learn how to find food, avoid predators, or fear humans and pets the way they should.

They also require extremely specific diets, medications, and care protocols.

If you find injured or orphaned wildlife and ask for help on social media, please make sure that animal gets to a licensed wildlife rehabilitator or permitted facility. Good intentions are wonderful , but proper care matters.

Wildlife belongs in the wild. Let’s give them the best chance possible. 💚

Thanks for those that help us advocate and educate!!

Completely unprepared for the first tree outing! Thankfully, at least two of the four had enough sense to refrain from following their littermates up the tree.
