El Dorado State Park - Kansas Wildlife & Parks

El Dorado State Park - Kansas Wildlife & Parks El Dorado Reservoir was constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was completed in June of 1981. Dept. of Wildlife and Parks.

One of the top state parks in America based on fishing, boating and family fun, El Dorado State Park has about 2,000 acres of park and 4,000 acres of wildlife area surrounding 8,000 acres of water with 98 miles of shoreline. The lake consists of approximately 8000 surface acres of water, 4500 acres of park lands and 3500 acres of wildlife area. Management of the reservoir resources has been granted to the Ks.

Just a friendly reminder if you come out this weekend to enjoy the park and beautiful weather, we are still in off season until April 1st. If your up at Bluestem there will be a restroom at Quail Run and the cabins, Walnut will be Big Oak and Boulder Bluff is open.

El Dorado State Park will be allowing seasonal camping within the Walnut River, Frontier Refinery Campground, starting on April 1st, 2026 and ending October 31st, 2026.
A drawing will take place on March 23rd, 2026 at 1pm, to identify those who will be granted a seasonal campsite starting on April 1st, 2026.
Please come or call the office 316-321-7180 to complete a form by 4pm on March 20th, 2026 to be entered into the drawing.
