Today, members of your Local 3604 firefighters and paramedics stood at the Capitol in support of AB 1383 and meaningful PEPRA reform. We stood with thousands of other peace officers and firefighters in solidarity to encourage Governor Newsom to sign AB1383. This legislation is about ensuring California can continue to attract and retain the highly trained public safety professionals our communities depend on.
We believe a strong, sustainable retirement system is an important part of maintaining a qualified workforce and providing reliable public safety for generations to come. We’re proud to stand with firefighters across California in supporting responsible reform that benefits both employees and the communities we serve.
Our goal is to modify the existing PEPRA changes from a 2.7% at 57 formula to 3% at 55. These changes ensure fair recruitment and retention protecting the health of ALL of our members in retirement.
