County of Imperial

County of Imperial The County of Imperial’s mission is to provide extensive, high-quality public services to increase the quality of life for its residents.

Imperial County is home to approximately 180,000 residents which live and work within its seven cities (Brawley, Calexico, Calipatria, El Centro, Holtville, Imperial and Westmorland) and eight unincorporated communities (Bombay Beach, Heber, Niland, Ocotillo, Palo Verde, Salton City, Seeley and Winterhaven). The county was the last to be established in California in 1907; however it is the ninth l

argest California County encompassing 4,284 square miles. Imperial County has much to offer. We have a rich agricultural heritage, which includes the production of half of our nation’s winter vegetables, an extensive amount of renewable resources, including geothermal, wind, and solar, a wide-range of cultural and outdoor recreational activities with hundreds of points of interest such as the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area, a magnet for off-road enthusiasts, and the Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge, a renowned birding site, and a lively population with frequent family-oriented community events.

🗳 The Imperial County Registrar of Voters is reminding voters that if their vote-by-mail ballot envelope was returned without a signature or if the signature on the envelope does not match the voter’s signature on file, they still have an opportunity to ensure their vote is counted.

California law provides voters the opportunity to "cure" their ballot by completing and returning the appropriate form to verify their identity. The curing process helps protect election integrity while ensuring that eligible voters have every opportunity to participate in the electoral process.

Voters whose ballots require curing will be notified by mail and may also be contacted by phone, email, or text message if that information is available. Voters are encouraged to respond as soon as possible to avoid missing the June 24, 2026 deadline.

🎉✂️ A cleaner, safer Heber starts with projects like this.

Today, we proudly celebrated the ribbon cutting for the completed Heber Townsite Improvements Phase II Paving Project, marking an important milestone for the Heber community.

What was once unpaved roadway shoulders north of SR-86 between Heber Avenue and Heffernan Avenue has now been improved with new pavement and sidewalks that will help reduce dust, support cleaner air, and create safer paths for pedestrians.

Made possible through approximately $2.4 million in funding, this project reflects the continued partnership between the Imperial County Air Pollution Control District, the Imperial County Public Works Department, and the AB 617 El Centro-Calexico-Heber Community Steering Committee.

Thank you to our project partners, community members, and everyone who helped turn this important improvement into a reality for Heber. Together, we are building healthier, safer, and stronger communities.
