As we mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the extraordinary acts of courage and compassion that emerged on one of our nation’s darkest days.

We are especially grateful for our first responders with the El Cajon Police Department, El Cajon Fire, and first responders everywhere who so selflessly put the safety and well-being of others before their own.

We will never forget.

After careful consideration, the City has made the difficult decision to cancel HauntFest in 2026 due to budget constraints.

We recognize that HauntFest has become a cherished tradition for many and we understand this news will be disappointing. We are sincerely grateful to the many residents, sponsors, volunteers, and City employees who have made the event such a success over the years.

Like families and businesses, cities sometimes must make difficult financial decisions and live within their means. While this was not an easy choice, it reflects our commitment to responsible stewardship of public funds and ensures that funding is focused on maintaining essential City services and long-term financial stability.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

July is Parks & Recreation Month!

Parks and Recreation is so much more than parks and programs. It's where friendships are made, confidence is built, families connect, and lifelong memories begin.

This month, we're celebrating the people who make it all worthwhile: YOU.

From swim lessons and sports to classes, camps, special events, playgrounds, and community spaces, we're honored to be part of so many meaningful moments in the lives of our residents.

Thank you to everyone who shared what Parks & Recreation means to them. Your stories remind us why we do what we do every day.

Here's to creating healthy, happy, and connected communities!
