Ellen’s journey is a powerful example of determination, growth, and passion for helping others. She first connected with CareerSource Okaloosa Walton in August 2024, bringing with her a strong foundation in healthcare as a phlebotomist and a deep desire to advance her career.

From the beginning, Ellen knew that healthcare was her calling. She shared that she loved working in the field and found fulfillment in caring for others. However, she wanted more, she aspired to take on a greater challenge and expand her impact by becoming a nurse. With that goal in mind, Ellen enrolled in services provided through the WIOA Adult program, where she received guidance and support to help map out her career path.

Through CareerSource Okaloosa Walton, Ellen gained access to training opportunities and career development resources that helped her move forward. She pursued and successfully completed Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) training, earning her license and achieving a major milestone in her professional journey.

Her hard work and commitment paid off. In February 2026, Ellen began her new role as a Licensed Practical Nurse. In this position, she continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of her patients, while earning a wage of $30.50 per hour.

Ellen’s story highlights the impact of perseverance combined with the right support system. Her willingness to embrace challenges and continue growing in her field exemplifies what success looks like. Today, she stands as an inspiration to others seeking to advance their careers and pursue their passions.

We were grateful to have our Veteran Team and Military Family Employment Advocate Team participate in Red Empire Community Day and connect with so many members of the military community. The conversations were thoughtful and inspiring, and it was a privilege to share resources, career opportunities, and support programs for military families.
