When I think of taking "tours" with a "guide" I immediately think of those double-decker buses with the tops cut off—you know: the ones where some overzealous guide is constantly talking over a speaker system and it ends up feeling more like you're in a classroom than actually getting to have a conversation with your friend(s)/partner and enjoying your time? This was the opposite. Skye was our guide. She kept the perfect balance between instruction/information and letting us just "take it in." For most of the actual paddling part, you're free to converse and just take in the beautiful scenery (of which, there is PLENTY), you get mini breaks to rest your arms and learn about the gorgeous shoreline's formation, geological makeup, and crystal clear/turquoise waters beneath you. We got lucky enough (weather-wise) that we got to actually go in the caves, see/touch the fossils embedded into the limestone, and get our picture taken. Skye exceeded all expectations. I would highly recommend using Cave Point Paddle and Pedal (Door County Kayak Tours). Keep in mind: There are other tours put on by Peninsula Kayak Company, Door County Adventure Center, Lakeshore Adventures, etc...with so many tour centers seemingly offering the "same" experience, I can tell you with great confidence: Door County Kayak Tours—operating a Cave Point Paddle and Pedal in Jacksonport is the ONLY way you should want to experience the classic, famous Cave Point area from the water.
