Showing up to support our afloat units.

Earlier today we attended the commissioning of the newest Fast Response Cutter, USCGC Vincent Danz (WPC 1162), in New York City.

The cutter’s namesake, Vincent Danz, was an NYPD Emergency Services Unit officer with Truck 3, and a Coast Guard Reserve Port Security Specialist. He heroically responded to the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, and was killed when the towers collapsed. He was posthumously awarded the NYPD Medal of Honor.

Ramp hoisting is something we practice at the Air Station and is required during the Flight Mechanic (FM) Syllabus. FM’s get to practice deploying different devices to a stationary platform before upgrading to a moving vessel.
