Excited to join Assemblywoman Carmen Morales at Stockton University as we celebrated the selection of G. Larry James Stadium as the official training base camp for the Haiti Men’s National Football Team ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

It was also a pleasure to see Dr. Courtney Dougherty, Stockton University’s Head Women’s Soccer Coach, and to feel the excitement surrounding this historic opportunity for Stockton, Atlantic County, and our region.

As the world’s largest sporting event comes to North America, New Jersey is proud to help welcome teams, athletes, and fans from around the globe. The FIFA World Cup 2026 will bring energy, cultural exchange, and economic opportunity while showcasing the strength, hospitality, and pride of the Garden State.

This is a big day for Stockton University, South Jersey, and all of us who are proud to see our region play a role on the world stage.

I was glad to spend time in Trenton with several of our Legislative Affairs interns during a recent committee hearing at the State House.

They had the opportunity to observe the legislative process up close, including a policy debate in committee, and to see how ideas are discussed, questioned, and shaped before they move forward. Experiences like this are valuable for young people who are interested in public service, government, law, policy, or community advocacy.

Thank you to our interns for joining us and for bringing such energy and interest to the work of public service.

Yesterday, I was honored to welcome veterans from across our community to my office in Egg Harbor Township for our Veteran Portraits event.

This was a simple but special way to thank those who have served and to help preserve their stories for their families, their loved ones, and future generations. Each portrait reflects a life of service, and I am grateful to every veteran who took the time to join us.

Thank you to AC Photo for generously providing these professional portraits and helping us recognize our veterans with the respect they deserve.

Today, as we mark the anniversary of D-Day, we are reminded of the courage and sacrifice of those who came before us — including the thousands of Allied troops who landed on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944. Their bravery helped protect the freedoms we continue to cherish.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting with the Atlantic County Economic Alliance (ACEA), where I was given an in-depth tour and update on several exciting economic development initiatives underway throughout Atlantic County.

ACEA plays a critical role in attracting new businesses, supporting local employers, creating jobs, and diversifying our economy. Their work helps position Atlantic County for long-term growth and prosperity by fostering investment, workforce development, and innovation.

One of the most exciting discussions centered around the emerging opportunities surrounding the FAA's William J. Hughes Technical Center and the region's growing aviation, aerospace, and technology sectors. Learning more about the projects being developed in and around this innovation corridor highlighted the tremendous potential Atlantic County has to become a hub for cutting-edge research, advanced technology, and high-quality jobs.

The vision, collaboration, and forward-thinking approach demonstrated by ACEA and its partners are helping to build a stronger economic future for our county. I look forward to seeing these projects continue to develop and the positive impact they will have on our residents, businesses, and communities for years to come.

Yesterday, the Assembly Tourism, Gaming and the Arts Committee advanced legislation (A3258) sponsored by Assemblyman Dan Hutchison, Assemblyman Cody Miller, and Assemblyman Dave Bailey, Jr. that would prohibit online micro betting in New Jersey.

The bill targets rapid-fire wagers tied to the next play or moment in a game — bets that can encourage impulsive gambling through constant, instant wagering on mobile apps.

The legislation would still allow micro bets in person at licensed sports wagering facilities while placing new guardrails on online platforms as sports betting continues to evolve in New Jersey. https://www.assemblydems.com/m/newsflash/home/detail/13093

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to speak with AP Government students at EHTNJ - Egg Harbor Township High School and recognize the Mock Trial team as the 2026 Atlantic County Champions.

The students asked excellent questions about the legislative process, the work of legislators and staff, and how decisions are made in Trenton. Their preparation, curiosity, and understanding of government were clear throughout our conversation.

A special thank you to their teacher, Michael Martirone, an exceptional AP Government teacher and Mock Trial coach. His classroom, dedicated to American history and civics, reflects the care he brings to helping students understand public service and civic responsibility.

At the end of the visit, two young women shared with me what it meant to see a woman serving in a leadership role. That moment stayed with me, and it was a reminder of why it matters for students to see themselves in public service.

Congratulations again to the Egg Harbor Township High School Mock Trial team on this well-earned achievement.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the two Atlantic City police officers injured in yesterday’s shooting, their families, their fellow officers, and the entire Atlantic City Police Department.

I understand the concerns many families are raising about affordability and the impact these requirements may have on monthly housing costs. For many residents, especially seniors and working families, unexpected increases can create real financial challenges.

When I ran for office, I committed to making New Jersey more affordable and ensuring that the voices of our communities are heard. That commitment continues today. My office is actively listening to residents, reviewing the concerns being raised, and working with stakeholders to better understand the impacts on homeowners and associations across Atlantic County and South Jersey.

In the coming weeks, I plan to host a public town hall to hear directly from residents, answer questions, and continue the conversation about practical solutions that protect both financial stability and affordability.

I encourage anyone affected by these requirements to reach out to my office. Your experiences and perspectives are important as we work toward a path forward that serves our communities responsibly.
