In his response to repeated calls for his resignation, County Board Chair Chris Slusser made the below post.

𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗦𝗹𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗽𝗵𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗲.

An elected official choosing to say that a person "should receive a public hanging" and then dismissing legitimate concerns about that language demonstrates poor judgment and a troubling lack of appreciation for the responsibility that comes with public office. Public officials should model respectful civic discourse, especially when discussing those with whom they strongly disagree.

𝗪𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗹𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼:

Democrats continue to get stuff done to make our lives better.

State Rep. Jay Hoffman: Because of the work we've done in the General Assembly, IDOT is investing nearly $850 million in the Metro East-- and that's just on projects that are currently running. That number alone cannot quantify the positive impact on families, communities, and union labor involved with getting these projects out the door.
