Summer is almost here, and we know many kids and teens will be out enjoying their e-bikes around Edmonds. We get it. E-bikes are fun. But they are also faster and heavier than a regular bicycle, and a crash can cause serious injuries to the rider, pedestrians, or drivers who may not have time to react.

Parents, please take a few minutes to talk safety with your child before they ride.

Today, the Edmonds Police Department joins our community in honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer — it is a day to pause, reflect, and remember the sacrifice of those who never came home.

To the families who carry their memory every day, we are grateful. Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Wishing our Edmonds community a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

This morning, just after 110 AM, officers responded to a reported shooting in the 400 block of Admiral Way, essentially near the Anthony's parking lot. Two groups of people were down at the waterfront. Some members of each group knew one another and had a history of dispute.

A juvenile male suspect, known to one of the victims, fired a gun at four people in a car. The car was moving in an attempt to flee from the suspect. One person in the car was struck in the arm and suffered a grazing wound. They were evaluated at the scene and did not require hospitalization.

The suspect was located and taken into custody in the waterfront area just before 3am. He was later booked into the Denny Juvenile Justice Center for the Charges listed below.

Detectives responded and are collected evidence from the scene. A vehicle has been impounded for evidence. Detectives will continue the investigation and more information will be provided as appropriate.

Last week, during Night Shift, Officer Carrillo was proactively patrolling the south-end motels along Highway 99. These have been an area of focus for EPD as we have seen an increase in violent crime and investigations related to human trafficking.

Officer Carrillo discovered a wanted subject at one of the motels, and officers attempted to contact the 20-year-old male on the landing outside a room. The suspect took off running, jumped over a railing, and down to the ground from the 2nd story. Officers chased the suspect across HWY 99 and located him as he was trying to hide behind a building. He was taken into custody without incident. A loaded handgun with a modification switch (making the gun full auto) with an extended 30-round magazine was located on his person. The suspect's history prohibited him from possessing a firearm. He was booked into jail for multiple offenses, and the gun was taken off the street! The cash was retained for safekeeping and booked into evidence for the suspect to claim. Excellent public safety efforts by Officer Carrillo and his night-shift partners. (JM)

Happy Earth Day, Edmonds

We are lucky to live in a community surrounded by so much natural beauty, from our neighborhoods and parks to the shoreline we all enjoy. Earth Day is a chance to pause and appreciate those places, while also remembering that protecting them starts with everyday choices.

Thank you to everyone who helps care for our community by keeping it clean, treating shared spaces with respect, and doing the small things that add up in a big way.

We’re proud to serve a community that values connection, care, and stewardship.
