Edmonds Library The Edmonds Library is located in south Snohomish County in beautiful downtown Edmonds. It is one of twenty-three Sno-Isle Libraries.

Sunny summer is in full swing! Celebrate by taking dining outdoors. Whether it's a concert, a low-key hike, a picnic in the park, or any other excuse for eating outside, private chef Melody Alferez has tips for you.

Join us to observe or cook along with Melody as she demonstrates recipes and teaches techniques for a memorable outdoor dining experience. The menu includes:

Caprese Style Turkey Sandwich
Summer Corn Pasta Salad
Cheesecake Dip with Fruit

Online Family trivia is designed with young people in mind – we suggest a youth participant on each team.

If you are playing with team members who are sharing your screen/device, only one team member need register. If team members are located in different households, at least one member of each household should register for trivia.

Explore the medium of collage!

Select collage materials based on colors and shapes (textures) that appeal to for your background. Then warm up those creative talents by beginning the piece with a doodle - anything that comes to mind from drawing a person to even abstract lines and scribbles. Paint over your doodle with watercolors, and as it dries assemble a torn paper collage for the background. Each participant will create a collage featuring a doodle!

Facilitated by SilverKite® Teaching Artist Ashley McEneny

Supplies:

Collage materials: Newspapers, Magazines, Books etc. Images that have colors and visual textures that appeal to you
Glue Stick
2-3 pieces of paper (or substitute 1 small piece of cardboard for your collage to be built on (4x6") and 1-2 pcs of paper for your doodle)
Scissors
Permanent Marker (Sharpie recommended)
Watercolor Paint, Dish of Water and Brush

Shouldn’t the public have a say in how AI is changing our lives?

In this talk, Humanities Washington Speaker, Onur Bakiner, explores the ways that AI companies are shutting people out of their creation, stifling competition, threatening jobs, and shaking up society. Then learn how we can fight back, helping shape this new technology into a tool that helps us lead productive, enjoyable, healthy, and meaningful lives.

Onur Bakiner is a professor and director of the Technology Ethics Initiative at Seattle University. His research interests include technology governance, human rights, and judicial politics. His book Truth Commissions: Memory, Power, and Legitimacy received the Best Book Award, American Political Science Association. Onur lives in Seattle.

This program is funded by the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation.
