Invitation from Rock Lyons---- Anyone who knows me is aware that my political views are in the main "conservative". In support of my political and moral beliefs I have created several Facebook groups: Islamic Threat Exposed, which is aimed at educating and informing people of what is happening to our country as a result of the Muslim influx of aliens unwilling to accept our culture, laws and traditions; the 2nd Amendment Society which is intended to fight back against those who would eliminate our Constitutional rights to keep and bear arms; and the Patriot News where general information about politics and national news is shared from a conservative viewpoint.

As Facebook friends you all are invited to join any or all three of these group, but please read the terms and conditions and agree to them prior to asking me to join them. Once joined you are welcome to send me articles or your opinions to add to these groups. However, anything posted that does not comply with my rules will be removed and the member may be removed if I deem that appropriate.

Yes, these are my groups and my opinions. If you don't like them then create your own group but don't troll mine. I look forward to hearing from you.

Several years ago I created this page for the legion post. Periodically I add photos or other items that I deem of interest to the members. I believe that the post officers could use this page to update the membership on upcoming events, post items including photos of past events, let everyone know about members who have passed away or are in need of some assistance and other items of general interest.

Periodically someone will post questions to this page and it would be helpful if an officer would respond to them. I do not regularly check for messages and being a “lapsed” member I am not the best person to answer these questions.

The internet URL for the page is https://www.facebook.com/The-American-Legion-Frank-H-Collings-Post-111-Edmond-OK-204467256245459/ if you just want to see what it looks like. If you are a Facebook member use the search bar for The American Legion, Frank H. Collings Post 111 Edmond, OK and join the group. If you would like to be an ADMIN for the group just let me know and I will add you. If you have any questions about this group I would be glad to try to answer them.

Final point: Don’t believe all the CRAP you hear about Facebook. If you become a member and only provide them with the minimum required info, which I believe is your name and email address, you are in NO danger from Facebook. However, if you choose to put your life history and photos on Facebook they will be there forever, or at least until Facebook dies. The apocryphal stories that you hear are either totally fabricated, grossly exaggerated or the direct result of the members stupidity. Access it intelligently and it can be enjoyable and informative.

The Sooner Detachment of the Marine Corps league will celebrate Memorial Day May 29th 2017 at the Guthrie Honor Park on the northwest corner of W. Harrison Avenue and S. Second Street in downtown Guthrie. As has been our tradition for many years, we will read the names of all of the Oklahoma service men and women who gave their lives in defense of their country.

This will begin promptly at 8AM and continue throughout the day until all have been recognized. There will be a break in the reading of names at noon for a short ceremony that will consist of a marching on of the colors, presented by the Logan County Young Marines; the National Anthem sung by Lilliann Eckhoff; a benediction and a short speech by our guest speaker. After the marching off of the colors we will resume reading the names until all have been honored.

We are asking for your support. You can assist us both by your attendance and by volunteering to read a page of the names. Everyone is invited to participate. It is not necessary for you to stay throughout the entire day. Come when you can and leave when you must, but we would appreciate your assistance to help honor those Oklahomans who gave their full measure of devotion to their country.

Please invite your family and friends to come out and celebrate Memorial Day by honoring these veterans. After all Memorial Day should be more than just a day off of work to have a bar-b-que.
