Hurricane season is underway, and now is the time to make sure you and your family have a plan in place before an emergency happens.

The State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry (STEAR) is a free program that helps emergency planners better understand the needs of residents who may require additional assistance during disasters. This includes individuals with disabilities, those who are medically fragile, or anyone who may need transportation, communication, medical, or personal care assistance during an emergency.

Registering with STEAR can help local emergency management officials plan and coordinate resources before, during, and after emergencies.

✅ Register online at STEAR.Texas.gov
✅ Call 2-1-1 and select Option 4
✅ Scan the QR code on the graphic below

Remember: Registering with STEAR does not guarantee specific services during an emergency, but it does help emergency responders better prepare to assist those who may need additional support.

Don't wait for a storm to be on the horizon, take a few minutes today to review your emergency plan and register if you qualify.

This morning, two of our deputies participated in the Speedy 5K alongside fellow law enforcement officers and community members from across the Rio Grande Valley. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

The annual event benefits the Speedy Memorial Foundation, which provides scholarships to the children of fallen and active law enforcement officers. We are proud to support this meaningful cause and the families it serves.

🌧️ Marginal Risk for Excessive Rainfall Today & Tonight

The Weather Prediction Center has placed all of Deep South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley under a Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall.

Heavy downpours may lead to nuisance flooding in poor drainage areas, and driving conditions could become difficult with low visibility at times.

Before the rain:
✅ Check your tires, brakes, and windshield wipers
✅ Clear debris from drainage areas near your home
✅ Keep weather alerts turned on
✅ Slow down and allow extra travel time

Remember: Visibility + traction = time to react.
