Good morning! We're here protesting outside the Port of Brownsville's press conference regarding Trump's oil refinery. Here's our press quote opposing the oil refinery:

"The Brownsville community has opposed this oil refinery for over 7 years since it was first proposed and will continue to do so because it will release toxins into our air, waterways, and environment. The oil refinery, which plans to operate across the ship channel from the shrimp basin, will severely harm the Rio Grande Valley’s sh*****ng and nature tourism industries, as well as destroy our sensitive ecosystem, and worsen climate change. This dangerous oil refinery was dying because of a lawsuit and it's a bad investment, but the Trump administration has unfortunately revived it." - South Texas Environmental Justice Network

As we're experiencing a low amount in products for both campus, we're reaching to the kindness of our community to donate to us for our Menstrual Product Campaign, the End Period Poverty Project at UTRGV.

We're working on establishing donation points for Brownsville, Edinburg, while it has one, we're working on establishing 2 more points.

We highly appreciate your support all these months and we're happy to continue to work with our community to support and ensure that the project continues.

Never in our life we have been more sure than ever: 🧊 ᴡɪʟʟ ɴᴇᴠᴇʀ ʙᴇʟᴏɴɢ ɪɴ ᴏᴜʀ ꜱᴛʀᴇᴇᴛꜱ.

Multiple members of our organization assisted and helped to do the walkout, with mutual aid; our own posters; chants and power speeches. We are proud to say we will never support an organization that are willing to kidnap, torture and k1ll members of our communities; our cities and those that literally pull our economy to be better.

We would love to highlight the work of our amazing photographer Yuri, who has done a wonderful job capturing the emotions of the students doing the walkout.

To clarify once more: This walkout was organized by members of the community, horrified and scared by the actions of the agents, it was NOT organized by IFSO.

Thank you to our brave community members for making this happen! IFSO will always support the causes of social justice.
