The Edgewood District is a residential community
found in the heart of Central Florida and hugs the shores of Orange Countyโs most vibrant lakes โ Conway, Gatlin, Jennie Jewel, Jessamine, and Mary. Dating back to 1881, Edgewood found its existence following the construction of the South Florida Railroad, connecting Orlando to Tampa. A road was built to parallel the railroad in 1916 thus creating Orange Avenue, a major thoroughfare that opened the area for unprecedented industrial development and a population boom. With the population on the rise, community leaders decided it was time to separate the area into three separate townships: Belle Isle, Pine Castle, and Edgewood. On April 24th, 1924 the Edgewood was formally established. Even after 90 years, our charm has never changed. The Edgewood District now calls itself home to more than 2,600 residents, with a patchwork of neighborhoods characterized by tall oak trees, lake-front property, and classic Central Florida homes. Orange Avenue continues to be the lifeblood of The Edgewood District, supporting more than 350 thriving businesses. And though cargo trains still rumble through the District, the SunRail will provide unprecedented convenience as Central Florida gets its first commuter railway.
