It may not be shark week, but we’re bringing out the “Jaws of Life” aka, our extrication equipment. 🦈

In certain situations, we need to use specialized tools to help get someone out of a vehicle after an accident. We have a multitude of tools such as spreaders, cutters, and a ram just to name a few. All of these tools are battery operated making it easier and faster for crews to better help the people we serve within the communities we protect.

Interesting fact, our Ladder, Truck, Quint, Engines, and other specialized firetrucks carry this equipment.

During last night’s severe weather, one of our crews assisted with removing tree debris from the roadway so homeowners could access their driveways. This also gave better access for Evergy to make repairs to a damaged power line. 🏡🪫

Once crews cleared the incident, they captured an intense display of lightening while returning back to their Station. ⛈️⚡️📷

Join us for as we take you to this past January where crews responded to a vehicle fire. This helmet camera footage gives you the front row seat on how firefighters responded and handled this specific incident. There were no injuries related.
