Article in today's Midland Daily News about our project at Harper Park! A couple of corrections: Charles and Ida Harper are actually Alice Sias's grandparents, and the site plan drawing they chose to illustrate the article is an out of date version from last year (we've made improvements to the design since then...) but the jist of it is right. :)

This small riverfront park on Water Road is the site of Edenville Township's Natural Resources Trust Fund project. Plans are to have a viewing deck, parking lot, and rest room facility on the high bank. This will connect to a handicap-accessible switchback ramp heading down the riverbank to a fishing pier and floating dock. This site will also serve as a trailhead for the beginnings of a network of paths and trails around the township. The initial phase will include a trail crossing Water Road and M30 (with marked crosswalks) providing safer pedestrian access to Edenville businesses and the village park on Moore Street, Lyle and Flora Gransden Memorial Park.

Midland County owns a 100 acre park in northern Edenville Township between the To***co and Tittabawassee Rivers on both sides of M30 just south of the Gladwin county line. On this undeveloped park land, there are informal trails to explore, historic sites to discover, and scenic vistas to enjoy. The land on the east side of M30 along the Tittabawassee was the site of the "Lumberjack Picnics" hosted by Frank Wixom in the 1930s.
