This week, I had the opportunity to serve as defense counsel for Rockingham County’s new Veterans Treatment Court. It is a true honor to stand with, and advocate for, those who have served our Nation.

This experience reinforced my belief that our mental health laws need to be stronger. If we are serious about supporting our veterans and our communities, we must do more to prevent the tragedies and legal consequences that too often follow untreated mental health struggles.

That's how much more NC's largest counties collected in property taxes over the last decade, which is greater than what’s needed to keep up with inflation and population growth.

This means our Government is growing faster than the people it serves, and that needs to stop.

The NC General Assembly is considering levy limits to ensure our citizens aren’t paying more than what’s necessary . Count me in.

A recent study from the John Locke Foundation found that property tax collections across the state’s 10 largest counties exceeded inflation and population growth by $2.7 billion over the past 10 years.
