πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Eden Emergency Squad Remembers
β€” 25 Years Later
On September 11, 2001, our nation changed forever.
Eden Emergency Squad remembers the 2,977 innocent lives lost, the 343 firefighters, 72 law enforcement officers, and all of the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice that day.

We also remember that members of the Eden Emergency Squad answered the call and responded to New York City following the attacks, joining countless emergency responders who came together to help those in need.

We remember the courage of those who ran toward danger while others were running away. We remember the families who lost loved ones, the survivors who continue to carry the scars, and the countless heroes who answered the call in the days, weeks, and years that followed.

As members of the emergency services community, we will always honor their service, sacrifice, and bravery.
25 years later, their sacrifice has not been forgotten.

πŸŽ’πŸš Back-to-School Safety from Eden Emergency Squad! πŸš‘β€οΈ
As another school year begins, we want to remind everyone in our community to slow down, stay alert, and watch out for our kids!
🚌 Stop for school buses and never pass when the red lights are flashing.
🚸 Watch for children crossing streets and walking near roadways.
πŸ“΅ Put the phone down and eliminate distractions while driving.
🚲 Give bikes and pedestrians plenty of space.
πŸš— Slow down in school zones and be prepared for the unexpected.
πŸ’Ί Buckle up every trip, no matter how short.
It takes all of us working together to keep our students, families, and community safe.
From our family at Eden Emergency Squad to yours β€” have a safe, happy, and successful school year! β€οΈπŸ’™

πŸš‘ Member Monday: Steve Werner

This Member Monday, we’re proud to recognize our very own, paid paramedic Steve Werner, who has dedicated an incredible 31 years to EMS and continues to make a difference in the lives of patients and fellow providers.

Steve serves as a Paramedic Field Preceptor for ECC, helping the next generation of EMS providers learn, grow and gain valuable experience in the field.

Throughout his career, Steve has been involved in 9 field childbirths and was recognized by Buffalo Mercy for a premature delivery and cardiac arrest save β€” a testament to his skill, dedication and commitment to his patients.

Outside of EMS, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife, Heather, whom he has been married to for 7 years, and their three daughters, Gabriella, Chelsea and Nicole. Their family also includes two dogs, Molly and Ruby. 🐢🐢

When he’s not working, Steve enjoys golf, hockey, the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres. He also enjoys reading and writing about his experiences in the field and sharing those experiences with others.

After 31 years, Steve still believes that being a paramedic is the best job in the world β€” and that passion continues to show in everything he does.

Thank you, Steve, for your dedication to EMS, your commitment to teaching others, and the countless patients and families you’ve helped throughout your career! πŸš‘β€οΈ

πŸš‘ Member Monday – Sue Christiansen

Sue has been proudly serving her community since joining in 2002.

Sue’s commitment to helping others was inspired by her parents, who were both members of the Emergency Squad and taught their family from an early age that volunteerism matters. In fact, Sue’s first volunteer experience was at OLV Infant Home when she was a teenager.

As a Registered Nurse, Sue felt that joining the squad was a natural way to continue doing what she has always had a passion for β€” helping people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. She has also dedicated more than 40 years to caring for others as an RN at Autumn View Manor.

For Sue, volunteering has always been about family, compassion and community. Being able to serve alongside her parents made her time with the squad especially meaningful.
When she isn't volunteering or caring for others, Sue enjoys spending time with her family and grandchildren, camping and traveling.

Thank you, Sue, for more than two decades of dedication to the Eden community and for a lifetime spent caring for others! β€οΈπŸš‘

πŸš‘ Member Monday – Helena Sinicki

Helena, joined the Eden Emergency Squad in January 2026 as a junior member. She is heading into her senior year of high school and has always dreamed of becoming a doctor. Her passion for medicine has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember, and joining EMS has given her the opportunity to begin turning that passion into action.

Growing up with a brother who has significant special needs and is medically fragile, Helena experienced many hospital trips and ambulance rides throughout her childhood. During those difficult moments, she remembers how compassionate and supportive the EMS and medical professionals were toward her and her family.

Those experiences inspired her to become the person who can provide that same comfort and reassurance to others when they need it most.

Β«β€œI want to be the one helping in times of crisis. I want to be that comfort to others and help the way I was helped.”»

We are proud to have Helena as part of the Eden Emergency Squad family and look forward to watching her continue to learn, grow, and serve our community. β€οΈπŸš‘
