Beginner serger class was so much fun today. Participants learned how to make a gift card holder, a glasses case, how to piece a quilt block……and how to make SOCKS!!! What a fun day on the project room!!

Registration opens August 17, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., with a September 17 deadline and no late registrations accepted. September 24 features the “Fast and Fabulous Quilt” class, and September 25 features “Flower Garden Fun.” Classes are held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The Fast and Fabulous Quilt class has an additional $7.50 pattern fee. Registration is $15 per day and includes lunch, door prizes, and fun. Payment is required to reserve a spot, and a supply list will be provided upon payment. The retreat is held at the Lyon County Extension Office, 231 Main Street, Eddyville, KY 42038. It's canning season! There are a few spots left in the Food Preservation class set for July 6, 2026 from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM at the Lyon County Extension Office. Call 270-388-2341 to register. The class is free and lunch is provided. This is a hands-on class but you will get to take home the fruits of your labor. Call by 4:30 PM on July 2, 2026 to register for the class.

4-H sewing retreat was a success! Young sewists learned parts of a sewing machine, how to thread the machine, wind a bobbin, and were able to make a chapstick holder and a tote bag. Special shoutout to Homemaker, Cindy Kennedy, for her help at retreat!

Due to extensive plumbing issues the Lyon County Extension Office will be closed starting Thursday, February 19th and will re-open on Wednesday, February 25th. Staff is working remotely. Please feel free to email at [email protected].

Sunday afternoon sewing and Monday night sewing are not cancelled. We will meet in the large meeting room. Please use the front entrance of the building. See you then!

We had a great day making baskets with Wendy Tallis from Raintree Studios. Everyone finished their project just in time to fill it with snow day necessities, like chocolate! Like our page to learn more about all the things we do at the Lyon County Extension Office.
